Thought maps drawn on paper produced two decades ago at the Women’s Studio Workshop. They are an attempt to organize the various ideas and concepts explored in the making of the work. They draw on psychodynamic and movement theory, my psychotherapeutic practice, and the felt experience of occupying a female body. The process of marking the words so insistently onto the hand made paper and watching the grooves etch deeply into the surface was satisfying. At times, it felt a little too final, but often, it felt affirming of the links and patterns between the thoughts expressed and the mark making process.
