In movement 11 of the Helices process, I made a “temple” to hold a sound weave that Jenny had created in response to a paper weaving I made in movement 9. While making it, I came across Sharon Blackie telling the myth of The Old Woman and the World. It entirely captured my imagination and led to weaving experiments in fabric, trumpet vines and clay.
I continue to weave clay in various ways. The work evolves, shifts and morphs as more threads both metaphorical and real slip between my hands and heart. The images below show some of the results. Verticality is an additional direction incorporated in this work. The weave connecting Earth and Sky.
